hi :) good little game :)
Thanks for your comment!
Yes! Love the idea of an interactive battle system!
Battle systems are often the most tedious parts of (J)RPGs. Human's RPG here successfully marries Street Fighter's beat-down (or Super Smash Bros, if you will) replacing the tedious Dragon Quest style menus. Some battles are even puzzles, so there's a third genre mixed in here.
'Human' continues to contribute his expertise to the JRPG community completely unpaid but certainly not unrecognized.
Fun game! The battle system was entertaining, I like being forced to be tactical instead of just attack spamming (Infinity Beatdown aside, but that part was just plain fun :D )
The battlers and animations looked fantastic, super crisp and fluid and lively, but after your wackyfun Harold's Last Stand entry that's no surprise. Cool of you to post a detailed breakdown of how you engineered the Engage mechanics too, thanks!
And the thing I won't say more about but that definitely happens was most unexpected and shocking, nicely done.
I also really liked that the Human family did your voice tracks :)
Cool to hear Joel Steudler's 'Urgent Encounter' for the final fight too, his Modern Day pack has so many killer jams in it, and that one was well placed here.
Great entry!
Thanks so much! Also I'm flummoxed I missed crediting Joel Steudler, but that's in the update I'm uploading now! Thank you for mentioning him! That track felt so right.
Yeah it's perfect BGM for that...urgent encounter! :) Easy to miss things, especially when you're hustling to meet a deadline. Good luck in the Jam!
